Stella Lake

Stella Lake, nestled in Nevada’s stunning Ruby Mountains, offers an unforgettable backpacking adventure. Located within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, this picturesque lake is known for its clear, blue waters and breathtaking mountain scenery. The hike to Stella Lake is a challenging but rewarding trek, ideal for experienced backpackers looking to explore Nevada's remote beauty. 

Details

 This 8-mile round-trip hike offers a perfect blend of rugged terrain and serene landscapes, making it a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts.  The trail to Stella Lake begins at the Liberty Pass Trailhead and winds through lush alpine forests and rocky outcroppings. As you ascend the trail, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding Ruby Mountains and the sparkling waters of the lake. The hike gains approximately 2,000 feet in elevation, so expect a steady climb. 

Recommendations

 Best Time to Visit: Late summer to early fall is the best time to visit, as the trail is often snow-free, and the weather is mild.


Gear Up: Be prepared for steep terrain by wearing sturdy boots and packing enough water and food for the entire trip.
